Puja Vidhi 09 Oct 2026 · by AstroMart Team
Ekadashi — the 11th tithi of each fortnight — is the most sacred vrat of the Vaishnava tradition, dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu.
Rice and grains are strictly avoided on Ekadashi (the tradition holds that sin resides in grains on this tithi). Beans, legumes, onion and garlic are also left out.
Sabudana (tapioca), kuttu (buckwheat), samak rice, potatoes, peanuts, dairy, fruits and rock salt — the classic phalahar menu.
The fast is broken on Dwadashi after the Hari Vasara period ends — check your panchang, as breaking it at the wrong time is believed to nullify the vrat.
